Apply to the 125 Prize
The 125 Prize is a special one-time fund of $250,000 to mark the Yukon’s 125th Anniversary. 3 to 5 exceptional Yukon-based projects will be selected to receive up to $125,000 to achieve something extraordinary that leaves a lasting legacy.
We’re looking for unique and bold ideas that can:
- be inspiring personal or team achievements;
- celebrate our cultures and identities;
- build community; or
- be some other exciting, uplifting project you have always dreamed about.
All projects must take place between December 2023 and December 31, 2024, and include a social media component.
Eligibility
You can apply if you:
- are an individual or group of up to 5 people;
- are 18 years of age or older;
- have been a Yukon resident for at least 1 year; and
- previously lived in the Yukon and maintain ties to the territory (on a case-by-case basis).
Application process and deadline
The fund has a two-stage application process.
Stage 1
Applicants submit an expression of interest (EOI) that briefly outlines the project.
Stage 1 deadline: 11:59 pm on August 4, 2023.
The review committee will create a preliminary shortlist and notify them in writing by August 18, 2023. The shortlisted applicants will have 1 month to complete stage 2 below.
Stage 2
Shortlisted applicants submit a full proposal with:
- details on the budget;
- a work plan; and
- a 2-minute video explaining your idea.
If selected, the video may be publicly shared by the Government of Yukon.
Stage 2 deadline: 11:59 pm on September 25, 2023.
The selection committee will notify 10 applicants of their selection to the next assessment stage by the end of November 2023.
We'll share the project explanation videos from these applicants publicly.
The selection committee will decide on 3 to 5 winners and notify them by December 2023.
