Health bursaries
A number of health education bursaries are available to support Yukon students. There are bursaries for health professionals, medical students and nursing students. Each year, 16 new Yukon students receive health education bursaries.
For 2024, the application intake will be from June 1 to 30.

Health professionals
The health professionals education bursary helps people attend a health education program who:
- live in Yukon; or
- have lived in Yukon.
This is to prepare them for front-line entry into 1 of the identified priority areas within the health sector.
Each year, a minimum of 6 new students receive the bursary over 4 years of study. We award:
- 2 bursaries for $5,000 to the 2 top-scored students for a maximum of $20,000 each; and
- 4 bursaries for $2,500 for a maximum of $10,000 each.
Medical students
The medical education bursary helps people attend a family medicine residency program in medical school who:
- live in Yukon; or
- have lived in Yukon.
Often, students from rural or remote areas return to practise in the region they're from. We anticipate that some students who receive this bursary will return to Yukon to provide medical services.
Each year, a maximum of 4 new students receive a bursary of:
- $5,000 for up to 4 years of medical school for a maximum of $20,000 each; and
$7,500
Nursing students
The nursing education bursary helps people attend a baccalaureate nursing education program who:
- live in Yukon;
- or have lived in Yukon.
Each year, 6 new students receive the bursary over 4 years of study. We award:
- 2 bursaries of $5,000 to the 2 top-scored students for a maximum of $20,000 each; and
- 4 bursaries of $2,500 for a maximum of $10,000 each.
