Council of the Federation summer meeting concludes

This week, Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai participated in the Council of the Federation summer meeting in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he discussed the Yukon’s priorities with Canada’s Premiers, including:

  • the availability of affordable housing and alleviating pressures related to Yukoners’ cost of living;
  • the need for federal investment in Arctic sovereignty and security to strengthen Canada’s presence in the region;
  • building strategic, multi-use infrastructure to support local economic growth and strengthening supply chains; and
  • strategies to recruit and retain health professionals to the Yukon.

The Government of Yukon is committed to furthering collaboration with its provincial and territorial partners to promote the needs of Yukoners and all Canadians.

Canada's provincial and territorial leaders continue to work together on issues important to Canadians from coast to coast to coast. I am honoured to join our Premiers to advocate on behalf of Yukoners. These meetings are crucial in promoting collaboration and improving our collective understanding of shared priorities and differences. I am proud of our continued partnership on these crucial issues and thank Premier Tim Houston for hosting us in Halifax.
