Premier Ranj Pillai is pleased to announce an extension for Michael Prochazka as the acting deputy minister for the Department of Economic Development. Mr. Prochazka has been serving as the acting deputy minister since May 2023 and will continue to act in the position for an additional six months.
Mr. Prochazka began his public sector career with the federal government, holding various leadership roles with Parks Canada before joining the Government of Yukon in 2018. In that time, Mr. Prochazka has worked for the Yukon Development Corporation and the Department of Economic Development.
This extension is effective November 12, 2023.
Thank you to Michael Prochazka for stepping into this important leadership position in the public service. This position plays a critical role in advancing our government’s efforts by promoting economic growth and sustainable development within the territory.

Biography
Michael Prochazka has dedicated his career to helping communities in the Yukon and across Canada to develop economic opportunities. With a background in business, industrial design and project management, Mr. Prochazka brings a people-centred approach to public service. He began his public sector career with the federal government, holding various leadership roles with Parks Canada before joining the Yukon government in 2018. In that time, Mr. Prochazka has worked for the Yukon Development Corporation and the Department of Economic Development, most recently serving as the department’s assistant deputy minister and acting deputy minister. Mr. Prochazka is passionate about the Yukon and sharing time outdoors with his wife Krista and their two teenage daughters.
