Joint statement from Premier Pillai and Minister Mostyn on meeting with Brigadier-General Dan Rivière, Commander of the Joint Task Force North

Premier Ranj Pilllai and Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn have issued the following statement:

“Last week, Minister Mostyn and I met with Brigadier-General Dan Rivière, Commander of the Joint Task Force North, to discuss communications, Canadian Armed Forces training exercises, collaboration on emergency management and Arctic security.

“Reflecting on security-related incidents earlier this year, we discussed ways to improve government-to-government communications and better ensure clear, timely and detailed information flow for potential future events that could impact the safety and security of Yukoners.

“Our conversations also focused on opportunities for additional training and infrastructure in the Yukon for Canadian Armed Forces to build up experience with our climate and geography, and to strengthen relationships with local communities.

“We look forward to continued engagement with Joint Task Force North and Commander Brigadier-General Dan Rivière to ensure a strong and secure Yukon.”
