The Health Canada approved Moderna bivalent COVID-19 boosters will be available for Yukoners ages 18 years and older beginning October 5. The bivalent booster will also be offered to people living in long-term care homes.
This vaccine is recommended a minimum of six months after receiving a previous COVID-19 vaccine dose and at least three months after a COVID-19 infection.
Bivalent booster appointments are available to Whitehorse residents starting October 5 and can be made online or by calling 1-877-374-0425. For residents in most rural communities, bivalent boosters will be available at community clinics in October. People should contact their local health centre for more information. Check Yukon.ca/appointments to check clinic dates and times.
Vaccination remains our best protection against COVID-19 and we are pleased to be able to open appointments for Yukoners ages 18 and over to receive the approved Moderna bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster. It is important that we all continue to work together to stop the spread of COVID-19 and save lives. Being fully vaccinated is the best way to maintain your health and protect your family, friends and community.
It’s important to remember that all of the vaccines including the original vaccines, give you really good protection from severe outcomes of disease. Staying up to date on all COVID-19 vaccinations ensures the strongest protection against the virus. I encourage all Yukoners to get their booster when they become eligible
