Nominations open for Order of Yukon and Commissioner’s Awards

The Order of Yukon and the Commissioner’s Awards for Bravery and for Public Volunteer Service nominations are now open. These awards recognize Yukoners who go above and beyond in their service to their communities and to the territory. Any Yukoner with outstanding achievements may be nominated to receive an award.

The Order of Yukon is the highest honour in the territory, equivalent to similar honours across the country. The order is awarded to a person who has demonstrated excellence and achievement, and made outstanding contributions to the social, cultural or economic well-being of the Yukon and its residents. The nominations are open to Canadian citizens who are or were long time residents of the Yukon. 

The Commissioner’s Award for Bravery recognizes people who have performed an outstanding act of bravery and have responded at considerable personal risk to save or safeguard, or attempt to save or safeguard, the life of one or more people. The Commissioner’s Award for Bravery can be given out posthumously to those who gave their life protecting others.

The Commissioner’s Award for Public Volunteer Service recognizes people who have made a significant volunteer contribution to Yukon business, academics, arts, culture or society, and have contributed positively to the wellbeing of the Yukon and its residents.
