Senior leadership appointments in the Government of Yukon public service

Premier Ranj Pillai has appointed Meagan Lang as Public Service Commissioner. Tracy Allen has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Highways and Public Works, as current Deputy Minister Catherine Harwood is retiring.

Meagan Lang is an experienced lawyer in labour and employment law, administrative law and commercial litigation. Ms. Lang will start on September 3, 2024.

Tracy Allen is a seasoned executive leader with 24 years of experience in strategic leadership, capital and operational planning, and construction. Ms. Allen will start on September 3, 2024.

Meagan Lang and Tracy Allen are renowned for their exceptional leadership and dedication to public service. With their extensive experience and expertise, they will play a vital role in driving the government's priorities and commitments forward, ensuring meaningful progress and positive impact. I want to extend sincere appreciation to Catherine Harwood for her dedicated leadership and service to Yukoners. I wish her a happy and well-deserved retirement. I also want to thank Lyle Dinn for stepping up to serve as acting Public Service Commissioner.

Biographies

Meagan Lang

Originally from Watson Lake, Meagan Lang is a life-long Yukoner and practising lawyer. She graduated from the University of Victoria Law School in 2007, where she was awarded the gold medal for highest aggregate GPA in her graduating law class and went on to clerk for the B.C. and Yukon Court of Appeals. Lang has practised law in the Yukon since 2011, focusing on labour and employment law, administrative law and commercial litigation. Since 2018, Lang has been a member of the executive of the Law Society of Yukon and served as its President from 2021 to 2024. Lang previously served as a Director of the Yukon Legal Services Society, a Board Member of the Yukon Utilities Board and a Member of the Social Assistance Review Committee.

Tracy Allen

Born and raised in the Yukon, Tracy Allen is an experienced executive leader whose 24-year career encompasses a broad spectrum of strategic leadership, capital and operational planning, construction and implementation of multiple strategic priorities and initiatives. In her current role as the Director of Operations for the City of Whitehorse, she is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operations of Engineering, Transportation and Water and Waste. Allen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, a Master's of Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration and her Professional Project Management designation.
