Senior leadership updates for Energy, Mines and Resources

Premier Ranj Pillai has appointed Lauren Haney as the deputy minister for the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources.

Samantha Paterson has been acting deputy minister pending a permanent appointment and will return to her role as assistant deputy minister for corporate services with the department.

This appointment is effective June 5.

Lauren Haney brings extensive knowledge of natural resources management including both private and public sector experience. I look forward to working with her on a range of issues that are important for all Yukoners. I would also like to thank Samantha Paterson for her leadership and supporting the department through this leadership transition.

Biography

Lauren Haney

Lauren Haney is originally from the Yukon and has nearly 20 years' experience in northern natural resource development. Much of her career has focused on impact assessment and licensing of quartz mining projects. She brings a diverse perspective to resource development, having held positions in industry, Yukon government and most recently, as Chair of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board. She holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science and a master's degree in environmental management and policy.
