Statement from the Government of Yukon on the death of a BC Wildfire Service firefighter

Premier Ranj Pillai, Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn, and the Yukon Wildland Fire Management branch have issued the following statement:

“The Government of Yukon and Wildland Fire Management send our deepest condolences to British Columbia today after the death of a BC Wildfire Service firefighter.

“As wildfire season continues, we are constantly reminded of the selfless efforts of firefighters to fight for our safety. The loss of this BC Wildfire Service firefighter, suffered in the line of duty, is felt deeply by all Yukoners.

“Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and loved ones, and our colleagues in British Columbia and beyond its borders.

“To all emergency responders fighting fires in British Columbia, the Yukon, and across Canada – your service is deeply appreciated, and we hold your continued safety in our thoughts as you bravely carry out your duties.”
