Statement from Minister of Health and Social Services on National Nursing Week

Minister of Health and Social Services Tracy-Anne McPhee has issued the following statement: 

“Today marks the start of National Nursing Week, an opportunity to honour the important work of nurses in the Yukon and across the country. Nurses are an invaluable part of our health care system and we depend on them to take care of us and our loved ones. This year’s theme is #WeAnswerTheCall and showcases the many roles nurses play in a patient’s health care journey. 

“Thank you to all the nurses in our territory who play critical roles in our communities and in maintaining the well-being of Yukoners. They use their professional knowledge and skills everyday to take care of our loved ones, lead our immunization clinics and show care and compassion for all patients. They work tirelessly, despite many challenges, in our hospitals and long-term care homes, our community health centres and at the Yukon Communicable Disease Control centre. These nurses continue to go above and beyond to make sure Yukoners get the care and support they need.

“COVID-19 has had a physical and mental toll on all Yukoners, but especially these important front line workers. Please take time to thank our nurses for their contributions, passion, dedication, expertise and resilience.”
