Statement from Minister of the Public Service Commission Sandy Silver on Public Service Week

Minister Sandy Silver has issued the following statement:

“This week marks National Public Service Week, an opportunity to recognize and honour the efforts, commitment and dedication of public servants across Canada. Their contributions encompass a wide range of essential tasks, including delivering healthcare services, maintaining transportation infrastructure such as roads and bridges, educating our youth and providing care for our Elders. Public servants shape nearly every aspect of our daily lives, diligently working to ensure the smooth functioning and well-being of our communities.

“The service and commitment public servants demonstrate towards our communities is truly remarkable and deserving of our gratitude, though it is sometimes overlooked or underappreciated. This is why we celebrate Public Service Week.

“This year, the Yukon government is celebrating Public Service Week from June 11 to 17.  The Yukon government has organizing various events and activities to mark the occasion, such as the Public Service Week BBQ which will take place on Wednesday, June 14 behind the Tourism and Culture Building in Whitehorse from 11:45 am to 1 pm.

“Similar events are planned in Yukon communities throughout the week, including today’s Public Service Week BBQ in Dawson, which I had the privilege of attending alongside my caucus colleagues. These gatherings provide an opportunity for the public to express their gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of public servants.

“I encourage everyone to recognize the many ways that public servants diligently serve Yukoners across the territory, and to extend gratitude for these tireless efforts not only this week but each and every day."
