Statement from the Minister responsible for the French Language Services Directorate Streicker on Yukon Francophonie Day

Minister John Streicker has issued the following statement:

“Today I'm thrilled to celebrate Yukon Francophonie Day, officially recognized by the Government of Yukon since 2007.

I invite all Yukoners to join in honouring the French language and Francophone culture that contribute to the Yukon's rich and diverse history.

Every year, we proudly support l’Association franco-yukonnaise for their community gathering open to all Yukoners. I encourage all Yukoners who are able, to attend these festivities.

In Whitehorse, l’Association franco-yukonnaise is presenting live musical performances, providing snacks, and children's entertainment at the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre from 5 pm to 8 pm.  In Dawson City, Healthy Families, Healthy Babies with its partners is providing music and activities for the whole family at the gazebo on the Waterfront, starting at 2 pm.

I would like to extend my thanks to the Commissioner of Yukon for supporting the organization of community-based events across the territory through the Yukon Francophonie Day funding program.

Thank you to all the organizations, individuals, artists, volunteers and businesses that continue to support the flourishing Francophonie community across the Yukon.

Today and every day, our government remains committed to supporting the vitality of the growing Yukon Francophone community for many generations to come.
