Statement from Premier Pillai and Deputy Premier McLean on CanArctic trade mission

Premier Ranj Pillai and Deputy Premier Jeanie McLean have issued the following statement:

“This week the Yukon welcomed the CanArctic trade delegation led by United States Ambassador to Canada, David L. Cohen. This visit included seven businesses from the U.S. meeting with Yukon government officials, Yukon First Nations development corporations and local business owners to explore commercial and investment opportunities.

"Trade between Yukon and the United States has delivered significant benefits to both Yukoners and Americans, and we look forward to these strong relationships continuing to grow and drive further economic opportunities. The companies represented in this delegation included innovators in eco-friendly energy, digital connectivity and many more sectors relevant to addressing the unique challenges of living in the North.

“We want to thank these businesses for seizing this opportunity to visit our territory, sharing their expertise and exploring partnership possibilities. We hope to see meaningful connections develop from this event.

“Yukon businesses are known for their resilience and innovative nature and we know these traits make them highly valuable to prospective partners. Yukoners and Americans on both sides of the border stand to benefit greatly from this visit.

“We would also like to recognize the Yukon First Nation Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Commercial Service Canada for making CanArctic Days possible. Both have been great partners to the Government of Yukon in building our economic future in the North. Your commitment to supporting and encouraging entrepreneurs has been unwavering and this effort to bring together businesses from different regions is an example of this work.

“We look forward to further opportunities for collaboration between these partners and our regions’ entrepreneurs.”
