Premier and Minister of Economic Development Ranj Pillai and Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources John Streicker have issued the following statement:
“This week, our government is excited to attend two major industry conferences in Vancouver: The Association for Mineral Exploration Roundup and the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference. These are important events for industry professionals, investors and stakeholders in the mineral exploration and mining sector, and we are pleased to be a part of the work being done.
“Throughout the week, we will highlight the Yukon as a secure and stable jurisdiction with abundant mineral potential and strong environmental, social and governance values, while also underscoring the crucial role of First Nations governments in resource development.
“Through our conversations, we intend to introduce mineral development opportunities to exploration and mining companies and potential clients. We are also sharing our commitment to responsible resource development and environmentally conscious practices in the mineral sector.
“On Tuesday, the Minister responsible for the Women and Gender Equity Directorate Jeanie McLean – in partnership with Yukon Women in Mining – is hosting an important roundtable luncheon on how industry, community and government can work together to create a safe and equitable mineral exploration and development sector.
“There are a number of important discussions, conversations and meetings happening throughout the week. We look forward to both sharing and receiving valuable insight and knowledge from the conferences to further strengthen our path forward in the sector for the benefit of all Yukoners.
"We look forward to significant discussions, conversations and meetings throughout the week. This exchange of valuable insights and knowledge during the conferences will help enhance our path forward together.”
