Premier and Minister of Economic Development Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:
“This November 13 to 19 is Global Entrepreneurship Week. This annual event is celebrated in over 180 countries worldwide. Organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network’s partners, the week provides an opportunity for businesses, non-profits, entrepreneurs and ecosystem champions to organize events focused on key themes related to entrepreneurship. These themes include education, ecosystems and inclusion.
“Entrepreneurs are innovators, risk takers and key drivers of our economy. They launch startups that bring new ideas to life, invest in our communities and create well-paying jobs for their neighbours. Here in the Yukon, we celebrate entrepreneurs as problem solvers and recognize the positive impacts they provide across all sectors of our economy. Thank you to these valued individuals who elevate life in the Yukon for all of us, and to the chambers and organizations that support them.
“Over 40,000 events will take place this week around the world to promote entrepreneurship, raise awareness and celebrate the impact of entrepreneurs across the country. November is also a busy month for entrepreneurs throughout the Yukon, with activities marking Yukoner Appreciation Week, Yukon Innovation Week and the beginning of the busy holiday season. I encourage Yukoners to continue getting out to support their local businesses.
“I would also like to remind entrepreneurs of the variety of resources available to them in the Yukon. I recommend they reach out to community organizations, such as Yukonstruct, Yukon University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship or the Department of Economic Development, to learn more.”
