Statement from Premier Pillai on intergovernmental meetings

Premier Ranj Pillai issued the following statement:

While in Vancouver this week at the Association for Mineral Exploration’s Roundup conference and the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference, I had the opportunity to meet with colleagues and counterparts to discuss shared priorities and opportunities for closer collaboration with respect to resource development and energy.

“I was pleased to sit down with British Columbia Premier David Eby to discuss working together on clean energy and supporting critical minerals development in our jurisdictions. I also spoke with B.C. Minister of Land, Water and Resource Stewardship Nathan Cullen about opportunities for collaboration that can benefit both the Yukon and northern British Columbia.

“In addition, I met with the Northwest Territories Premier R.J. Simpson on a range of priorities to support a strong and healthy North, including Arctic security, infrastructure and action on climate change. This was our first opportunity to connect in person following Premier Simpson’s election as Premier and I look forward to fostering this positive working relationship for the benefit of all northerners.

“I appreciated having the opportunity to connect with the Chiefs Committee on Mining to discuss mineral-related priorities and interests. I also met with Kwanlin Dün First Nation Chief Sean Smith and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council Chief Amanda Leas to further discussions on energy related matters.

“I look forward to continued dialogue and collaborative efforts to create a thriving and environmentally sustainable future for the North.”
