Statement from Premier Pillai on meeting with Alaska Governor Dunleavy

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“Earlier today, I had the pleasure of meeting virtually with Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy to discuss the Yukon’s relationship with our neighbours to the west and areas where our governments can continue to collaborate.

“We discussed Arctic security and key infrastructure such as Shakwak and the Port of Skagway, which have the potential to improve connections between the Yukon and Alaska. We also discussed other opportunities to work together in the future, including identifying ways to further strengthen our rich cross-border tourism relationship.

“I look forward to maintaining a strong relationship with Alaska and advancing shared priorities that improve the prosperity, stability and wellbeing of both our jurisdictions.”
