Statement from Premier Pillai on Ramadan

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement: 

“I offer warm greetings to the Muslim community across the territory and around the world as they embark on the sacred month of Ramadan which begins this Sunday evening.

“Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a time of deep reflection, spiritual growth and communal unity. It is a period marked by fasting, prayer and acts of kindness that strengthen the bonds of family and community.

“As we celebrate the beauty of diversity, let us take this opportunity to learn more about the significance of Ramadan, engage in meaningful conversations and work to understand each other better. Let the spirit of compassion and unity that Ramadan promotes inspire us.

“I encourage all Yukoners to explore potential events and opportunities taking place throughout the month to commemorate this occasion.

“May this month bring peace, joy and spiritual fulfilment to all those observing Ramadan.
