Statement from Premier Pillai on the Selkirk First Nation election

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I would like to congratulate Sharon Nelson on her recent election as Chief for the Selkirk First Nation. 

“I would also like to extend my congratulations to the new Crow Councillors Samantha Dawson and Ashley Edzerza, Wolf Councillors Cody Sims and Patrick McGinty, Elder Councillor Amy Johnson and Youth Councillor Keyshawn Sawyer.

“I look forward to working with the new Chief and Council to advance our government-to-government relationship. Chief Nelson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her time as a senior official and former Chief of the Selkirk First Nation. I am confident that the Selkirk First Nation and community will benefit under Chief Nelson’s leadership.

“I would also like to thank former Chief Darin Isaac for his service and dedication to the Selkirk First Nation. I wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”
