Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:
“As we mark the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, I extend my warmest wishes to all Yukoners celebrating the occasion over the next seven days. Sukkot holds profound significance for the Jewish community and resonates with our diverse and inclusive territory.
“The symbolism of the sukkah, a temporary structure open to the elements, calls attention to the importance of shelter and security.
“Sukkot is a reminder of the vital link human beings share with the environment and the importance of harvest and sustainability.
“This is an opportunity for the Jewish community and indeed, all Yukoners to reflect on and renew their commitment to fostering inclusivity and harmony.
“In the spirit of Sukkot, I wish the Yukon’s Jewish community a joyful and meaningful celebration. May the coming days be filled with gratitude and a reawakened sense of purpose as we create a brighter and more sustainable future.
“Chag Sameach!”
