Minister of Justice Tracy-Anne McPhee tabled Bill No. 19, entitled Technical Amendments Act (2022), today in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill includes amendments to three different Acts: the Land Titles Act, 2015; the Condominium Act, 2015 and the Corrections Act, 2009.
The Technical Amendments Act (2022) is designed to update legislation to align with operational requirements and to fix errors and align cross-references.
These technical amendments will address several outstanding matters in current legislation and ensure that our laws remain accurate, consistent, clear and effective.
-
The proposed amendments to the Condominium Act, 2015 addresses minor errors, inaccurate cross-references and repeal of regulatory provisions that have not been proclaimed and, therefore, did not come into force on October 1, 2022.
-
The proposed amendments to the Land Titles Act, 2015 will rectify errors in the legislation and ensure cohesion and alignment with the operational requirements of the electronic Yukon Land Titles Registry system.
-
Amendments to the Corrections Act, 2009 support the separation of facility-based corrections and community corrections.
