Test of AlertReady emergency messaging system planned for November 15

The Emergency Measures Organization will be issuing a test of the AlertReady system at approximately 1:55 pm (Yukon time) on Wednesday, November 15.

The test will be broadcast on cellphones, radio and televisions across the Yukon. Regular testing of the emergency alerting system is important to ensure that critical information can be issued to Yukoners during an emergency.

This test is also an important reminder to have an emergency plan and an emergency kit for your family or household. Emergency preparedness is everyone’s responsibility.

Please note that users in Old Crow and other areas with only 3G wireless will not receive the alert on their phones.

People can visit www.alertready.ca to share their feedback after the test.

AlertReady is part of the Government of Yukon’s multifaceted approach to emergency preparedness. Yukoners are encouraged to have a family emergency plan and prepare a 72-hour emergency kit.

Yukoners can visit PreparedYukon.ca for more information on how to prepare for all types of emergencies.
