Yukon government announces third extension of Inflation Relief Rebate

The Government of Yukon is committed to making life more affordable for Yukoners and lowering the cost of living and doing business in our territory. To reduce the continued impacts of inflation on Yukoners, the Minister responsible for the Yukon Development Corporation John Streicker is announcing an extension of the $150 Inflation Relief Rebate on electricity bills. This rebate will again be applied automatically to ATCO Electric Yukon and Yukon Energy electricity bills, regardless of usage.

All non-government residential and commercial electricity customers will see a $50 credit on their bills over March, April and May. This allows Yukoners and Yukon businesses to keep more of their money in their own pocket, despite a global rise in inflation.

The government will continue to monitor inflation and costs of living to determine when to apply a further rebate extension to electricity bills.

This rebate is provided in addition to the ongoing Interim Electrical Rebate, which provides residential customers a rebate of up to $22.62 per month on their electrical bills for the first 1,000 kilowatt hours of power used each month.

This is the third extension of the Inflation Relief Rebate. This program was first introduced by the Government of Yukon in March 2022, and initially extended in September 2022.

The Inflation Relief Rebate is part of the Government of Yukon’s ongoing work to mitigate the impacts of inflation and make life more affordable for all Yukoners.
