Purpose of the trip
As part of the Government of Yukon and the Government of Alaska’s commitment to work closely together on matters of joint concern and mutual interest, Premier Ranj Pillai attended the Arctic Encounter Symposium in Anchorage on April 12. Attending the largest Arctic-focused conference in the United States offers the Government of Yukon incredible exposure to American and global Arctic interests through meetings with ambassadors and lawmakers and discussions on issues of importance for Yukoners, including economic development, Arctic infrastructure development, job and workforce training, transportation, tourism, energy, the environment, fish and wildlife management and cross-border access. Premier Pillai participated in a plenary discussion titled Arctic Investment Landscape: Opportunities for Growth and Development. Members of the panel discussed economic opportunities in the North.
