Purpose of the trip: Minister Silver attended the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) annual summit, held in Boise Idaho, as the Government of Yukon’s representative. While attending, Minister Silver was elected by 5 States, 3 provinces, and 2 territories as the new Canadian Vice-President of PNWER, and thus undertook PNWER executive meetings throughout the conference period. Among private meetings with other pacific northwest legislators, the Canadian Consul General to the United States of America in Seattle, and industry representatives across the region, Minister Silver also presented on a panel with the US Department of Defence, the Saskatchewan Research Council, and the Government of Northwest Territories to discuss the importance of critical minerals, and the future of North American security and sustainability.
