Ways to stay well

Everyday choices can help protect ourselves and others.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations

Vaccines are safe, and they’re an important part of keeping a community healthy. The more people there are who are vaccinated, the safer everyone is. Talk to your doctor or community health nurse about keeping your family’s vaccinations up to date.

Wash hands

Our hands touch a lot of surfaces. You can send millions of germs right down the drain by washing your hands well. Clean fingers and hands mean less risk of catching or spreading the virus that could make you or others sick.

Stay home when sick

Stay home when sick

Just because you could, doesn’t mean you should. Even if you don’t feel too sick to work or go out, please stay home when you’re not feeling well. Staying in protects others from also getting sick – and that’s better for everyone.

Stay connected

Does the colder weather make you feel like hibernating? Maybe you’re sick and staying at home. Remember a good conversation is good for your health! Call a friend and stay connected. It can be one of the nicest ways to stay well.

Sleep

Sleep

The amount of sleep we get can affect our health in many ways. Resting gives our bodies the chance to do some important work. Watching the northern lights might be one of the only times it’s worth giving up a bit of sleep.

On the land

Make the most of the fall weather and head out into nature. Gather with friends and family outdoors if possible. If you are meeting indoors, consider opening windows to let the fresh air in and reduce the transmission of germs.

Nutrition

Reach for healthy, satisfying foods that nourish your body. Eating well can lower your risk of getting sick and helps your body fight back if you do get sick. Good food can even help your mood!

Wear a mask

Some places you go, wearing a mask will be your choice. Other places can require it. When wearing one is up to you, it can still be a smart decision. Consider if it’s crowded, how much fresh air there is and who might be at risk of getting sick.
