This grant funds active after-school activities on or near Yukon schools.
Positive role models lead the activities which are:
- free;
- inclusive;
- barrier-reducing;
- fun; and
- held outdoors.
Grants available up to $2,000 per school community. Grants can support expenses including:
- Staffing and leader fees, such as a contract for community part-time program staff;
- Honorariums;
- Equipment and supplies;
- Healthy food;
- Registration fees;
- Training and capacity building;
- Youth support wages;
- Transportation; and
- Other expenses needed to deliver the proposed project.
School staff wages, overhead or day-to-day operating costs are not eligible.
- Registered organizations in good standing under the Societies Act;
- Yukon-based not-for-profit corporations incorporated under the federal Not-for-Profit Corporations Act;
- Charitable organizations;
- Schools and school councils;
- First Nations governments; and
- Municipal governments.
Priority is given to programs and activities:
- at rural Yukon schools;
- Whitehorse-area schools subject to funding availability;
- that take place at or near the school that serve students that attend that school;
- for children from low-income families, First Nations, and newcomers to Canada;
- those disengaged in physical activity;
- which support regular programming, including special events or activities for a regular program;
- that are free, inclusive and barrier-reducing;
- which start right after the school day ends; and
- for elementary school-aged children.
Application deadline
Grants will be reviewed as applications are received until September 27, 2024. Activities must take place in the fall or winter of the 2024 to 2025 school year. Additional grants will be available for spring of the 2024 to 2025 school year.

Timeline for funding decisions
We'll decide within 5 business days from the date of the submission.
Each recipient needs to submit a final report using the online form, which should include a short narrative around:
- impact;
- supporting documents for expenses; and
- participation numbers.
Reporting is due 3 weeks after project activities have finished, or by the latest March 31, 2025.
