We launched the Yukon First Nations Business Registry in spring 2021. The registry connects Yukon First Nations businesses with government procurement authorities and the broader business community to make it easier to explore potential partnership and business opportunities.

This fall we’ve been working on developing Phase 2 enhancements which we deployed on October 4. This work is related to implementing the Yukon First Nations Procurement Policy. We also took this opportunity to make improvements based on user feedback.

Phase 2 enhancements

Phase 2 enhancements include:

  • a more streamlined registration process;
  • the ability for people registering to upload all of the required verification documents; and the
  • ability for our partners with the Yukon First Nation Chamber of Business to administer the verification process.

If you visit the registry now, you’ll see there are no businesses currently listed. The Yukon First Nation Chamber of Commerce is working with businesses that were on the registry before to get and review their verification documentation. Once we’ve completed this process, we’ll republish their information to the registry in December – along with any new businesses that register.

Next steps

In the coming weeks and months we’ll:

  • revisit the Phase 2 backlog and fine-tune recent enhancements;
  • work on improvements to the back-end so it’s easier for staff to verify registrations;
  • conduct usability testing to ensure businesses can register without encountering any barriers;
  • continue to collect and action user feedback.

Get involved in user testing

We test government websites and services before we release them to the wider public. This gives us an opportunity to learn from your experience and to correct any barriers you might have encountered. If you’re interested in participating on testing this, or another service, email eservices@yukon.ca
