Volunteer fire departments

The Yukon has several levels of volunteer fire service depending on the needs and volunteer capacity of Yukon communities. The service levels start with a Fire Safety Champion Program, which is possible with 1 volunteer. Higher levels of fire service include the Scene Safety Response Unit and the Fire Department, which are possible with more volunteers and the right training and equipment.

The Fire Marshal's Office oversees fire services in the following communities. If you live in or near one of these communities, you can volunteer there.

  • Burwash Landing
  • Destruction Bay
  • Carcross
  • Champagne
  • Golden Horn
  • Hootalinqua
  • Ibex Valley
  • Keno
  • Klondike Valley
  • Marsh Lake
  • Mt. Lorne
  • Old Crow
  • Pelly Crossing
