This is a joint news release between the Yukon Hospital Corporation and the Government of Yukon.
The Government of Yukon, in partnership with the Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC), is pleased to share the independent report produced by Ernst and Young. This report offers an in-depth analysis of the governance, financial management, and internal controls within YHC and its partnership with the Department of Health and Social Services.
The report highlights both strengths and challenges and offers concrete recommendations to strengthen governance, planning, budgeting and forecasting, and internal controls.
Both the Government of Yukon and YHC accept all recommendations presented in the report. Work is already underway to implement measures to ensure greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability as the health system transforms to better serve Yukoners.
The recommendations will help as we work to build Health and Wellness Yukon, Yukon’s Health Authority, which aims to transform the territory's health system into a more robust, integrated and patient-centered model.

Our government initiated this independent review of the Yukon Hospital Corporation to improve transparency, governance and financial management. This review was necessitated by the evolving health care landscape in the Yukon, particularly the challenges and financial pressures intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic.
