The Government of Yukon has released the third and final annual report regarding the implementation of the Yukon Aging in Place Action Plan.

The Yukon Aging in Place Action Plan contains 56 recommended actions aimed at helping ensure older Yukoners can live safely, independently and comfortably in their own homes or communities for as long as possible.

To date, 30 actions are operational, 25 actions are in progress and one action has been incorporated into other actions. Since the last report, some key highlights of the work that has happened includes:

  • working with partners, such as Yukon University, to provide flexible learning options for seniors and Elders in communities;
  • building better connections for seniors and Elders within the Government of Yukon, such as Yukon Housing Corporation, to provide better services for them; and
  • working with partners, such as the Yukon Council on Aging, to increase awareness about funding options and services available to seniors and Elders.

The Government of Yukon is committed to continuously improving the lives of seniors and Elders. The Government of Yukon is grateful to the Aging in Place Seniors Advisory Committee for their dedication and contributions to advancing the recommendations and to the care providers who support seniors and Elders every day.

Our government remains committed to helping ensure Yukoners can access the support needed to live safe, independent, and comfortable lives in their own home or community for as long as possible, regardless of age, income, or ability level.  We are dedicated to supporting Elders and seniors age in place with dignity and respect as we continue to transform our health care system. Thank you to the Aging in Place Seniors Advisory Committee and everyone involved for contributing their valuable time, knowledge and wisdom as we work to fully implement all recommendations.
