The Government of Yukon is continuing to support the health and wellness of all Yukoners. As part of this work, a Yukon-based physician has been recruited to the Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre. The hiring of this new physician reflects the Yukon government’s commitment to increasing access to primary health care and implementing the recommendations and vision from the Putting People First report.
The physician joins Centre de Santé Constellation’s collaborative team of interdisciplinary health providers. While working closely with other members of the team, the physician’s role will include conducting patient appointments, setting and monitoring patient treatment plans and providing consultation services. The new physician will further strengthen the clinic’s ability to offer high-quality, primary health care to Yukoners.
The Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre has provided integrated, primary health care services to Yukoners since it opened in November 2022 and is designed to provide an access point to family medicine services. Health care is offered in both French and English, with virtual interpretation available in other languages.
The Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre's primary care team includes a physician, three nurse practitioners, a bilingual registered nurse, a bilingual licensed practical nurse, a bilingual social worker, two bilingual medical office assistants, a bilingual administrative assistant and a clinic manager.
The Government of Yukon recently launched a new Health Human Resources Strategy to increase and support the Yukon’s current and future health workforce and better ensure that Yukoners have access to the health care services they need, when and where they need them.
The new staffing complement will enhance capacity at the Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre, increase the overall number of clients served, and help connect Yukoners with the right care from the right provider at the right time.
The addition of a physician at the Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre represents an important step forward in offering a comprehensive, collaborative health care model in the Yukon. The multidisciplinary hub offers access to a range of services in both French and English and is the first of its kind in the Yukon. We welcome the physician in this new role as a member of the interdisciplinary team at Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre.
