Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:
“In the Yukon and across Canada, we recognize November as Hindu Heritage Month. We are fortunate to have a vibrant, growing Hindu community here in the Yukon, thanks in part to our Yukon Nominee Program.
“India, often referred to as the birthplace and the heartland of Hinduism, was the top source of newcomers under the Yukon Nominee Program in 2020 through 2022 and is the second-largest source of newcomers overall since the program’s launch in 2007. Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world and a way of life for more than a billion Hindus around the globe.
“As Yukoners, we welcome and celebrate the many contributions citizens of Hindu heritage bring to our society and communities. Through business, health care, arts, education and more, Hindu Canadians support the Yukon’s continued growth, development and cultural richness and I am pleased to see this positive impact and increased diversity reflected across the territory.
“I wish everyone a joyful Hindu Heritage Month.”
