Community engagement begins for Ch'ëdähdëk (Forty Mile) Historic Site conservation plan

This is a joint release between the Government of Yukon and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.

In May of 2023, an ice jam formed at the confluence of the Fortymile and Yukon Rivers, resulting in extensive ice and water damage to the co-managed Ch'ëdähdëk (Forty Mile) Historic Site. Following damage assessments and stabilization of the remaining infrastructure, the Yukon and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in governments have contracted ERA Architects to lead the development of a conservation plan to provide options and guidance for the future of the site.

Expansion of the wastewater collection system coming to Watson Lake

This is a joint news release between the Government of Yukon and the Government of Canada.  

The Town of Watson Lake will benefit from a new sewage lift station thanks to a combined investment of more than $5.1 million from the federal and territorial governments.

Announced by Member of Parliament Dr. Brendan Hanley and Minister Richard Mostyn, the lift station will support new residential development, including 43 new Frances Avenue lots, which are currently under construction.

Information on how graduation rates are reported

The Department of Education is committed to transparency, accountability and consistency in reporting data about the education system. The department publishes graduation rates each year in two reports, the How Are We Doing Report and the Yukon Wide Report

The How Are We Doing Report was designed collaboratively with Yukon First Nations and other partners. It provides detailed analyses, including rural–urban and self-identification breakdowns and includes the Grade 12 Dogwood, Adult Dogwood and six-Year graduation rates.

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

New multi-family building in Whitehorse moving to construction tender

The Government of Yukon is committed to improving access to housing across the territory. As part of this commitment, the Yukon government is advancing the development of a new multi-family building at 6095 6th Avenue, the site of the former Ryder Apartments in Whitehorse, towards construction tender.

Upgrading essential water infrastructure in Haines Junction

This is a joint news release between the Government of Canada and the Government of Yukon.

The Village of Haines Junction is upgrading over one kilometre of water and sanitary sewer pipes and over four kilometres of roads and alleys after a joint investment of $10 million from the federal and territorial governments.
