You can get a rebate on the purchase of a new:
- electric bicycle; or
- electric cargo bicycle.
Eligible bicycles
Your electric bicycle must have pedals.
Full suspension electric bicycles designed exclusively for mountain biking qualify for this rebate.
Electric cargo bicycles must have an extended frame designed to carry additional people or cargo.
You must buy the bicycle from a business operating in Canada with a Canadian address listed on the invoice.
Ineligible bicycles
The following bicycles and expenses do not qualify for this rebate.
- Electric motorbikes without pedals.
- Bicycles purchased on crowdfunding campaign websites, such as Kickstarter or Indiegogo.
- Electric conversion kits.
Motorbikes without pedals may be eligible for our other e-transportation devices rebate.
Eligible applicants
Yukon residents
During the program lifetime, Yukon residents are eligible for 2 rebates. The rebates apply for both:
- electric bicycles; and
- electric cargo bicycles.
Organizations, businesses and governments
Each calendar year, organizations and businesses registered in the Yukon are eligible for a total of 10 rebates. The rebates apply for both:
- electric bicycles; and
- electric cargo bicycles.
This includes First Nations governments and municipal governments.
Rebate amount
Electric bicycle
25 per cent of the cost of a new electric bicycle up to a maximum of $750.
Electric cargo bicycle
25 per cent of the cost of a new electric cargo bicycle up to a maximum $1,500.
We calculate the rebate on the cost of the bicycle only. It excludes costs such as:
- accessories;
- shipping; or
- assembly.
Apply for the rebate
At the time of purchase
You may receive a rebate directly from the vendor when you buy your bike. In this case, you do not need to do anything else.
If you're a Yukon vendor, download the vendor application form. It allows you to be reimbursed for applying the rebate at the point of purchase. Both the vendor and buyer need to sign the form.
After you purchase
If you did not receive the rebate from the vendor, you can apply directly to the Energy Branch.
Your receipts and invoices must be dated within 1 year of submitting your rebate application.
Apply online
To apply online, you’ll need to:
- create an account on the Good Energy rebates website; and
- add details about your home.
Other ways to apply
- Complete the application form.
- Attach the required documents.
- Receipt or invoice showing:
- you did not receive a rebate;
- no balance owing; and
- the vendor's address in Canada.
- The technical specifications sheet. It should confirm that the electric bicycle has pedals. For an electric cargo bicycle, the sheet should include a description of the cargo function.
- Your receipts and invoices must be dated within 1 year of submitting your rebate application.
- Receipt or invoice showing:
- Submit your application to the Energy Branch.

After you apply
If your application is approved, you'll receive a rebate cheque in the mail within 12 weeks.
