Under the Education Act, the Department of Education is responsible for delivering accessible and quality education to Yukon learners. We work closely with our partners in education, including Yukon First Nations, and school communities to develop and improve our programs and practices.

Yukon’s education professionals prepare for back-to-school season during Welcome Week, which is returning after a four-year hiatus.
Bus routes for the 2024–25 school year are now available. Parents or guardians will receive an email by August 16 with their child’s route information.
We are now accepting applications for student financial assistance for the 2024–25 academic year.

The Early Learning and Child Care Unit delivers programs and provides services that help:

  • families with young children and infants;
  • early learning and child care programs; and
  • current and future early childhood educators.

These services include the Yukon Early Learning and Child Care Funding Program as well as child care subsidies.

This branch handles the management and operation of Yukon schools from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and those in apprenticeships and training programs. Student Training and Employment Program is a job experience program which offers a wage subsidy to Yukon employers who can provide Yukon post-secondary students with an opportunity to gain practical and relevant work experience in their chosen field of study.
