Residential lottery and industrial tender for lots in Haines Junction, Mayo, Teslin and Watson Lake now open

As part of the Government of Yukon’s ongoing commitment to increase land and housing availability and support business growth, new residential and industrial lots are being released in communities across the Yukon in partnership with municipalities and Yukon First Nations.

Seven residential lots are located in Haines Junction, Mayo and Watson Lake, along with three industrial lots in Teslin and Haines Junction. Residential lots range in size between 278 and 6,508 square metres. Lot availability is guided by official area plans and community input, and interested buyers can participate in a public lottery to secure these new properties.

Lottery applications will be accepted at the Application Office at the Land Management Branch in Whitehorse, or at any of the district offices, including those in Haines Junction, Mayo, and Watson Lake until October 4, 2024, at 4:30 pm. The lottery draw will take place on October 9, 2024.

This is the sixth lot release this year and is a direct result of the Government of Yukon’s historic investment in land development. Through the lotteries and tenders process, the Government of Yukon has released 685 lots across the territory since 2021 and is on track to release over 1,000 lots by 2026.

Our government is committed to working with municipalities and Yukon First Nations to address the ongoing and emerging need for housing and business space. By increasing the number of lots and exploring new development options, we’re helping create more homes for Yukoners and supporting the needs of our business community. These efforts will build a sustainable future and help our communities continue to grow and thrive.

Premier and Minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation Ranj Pillai

Our government has released a variety of lot of types this year to help meet the growing needs  of Yukoners. The industrial lots available through this tender presents valuable opportunities for business growth in our communities. I look forward to seeing the positive impacts these ten new lots in Haines Junction, Mayo, Teslin and Watson Lake will have— not only benefiting Yukoners today, but also laying the foundation for our growing territory.

This is the sixth lot release this year, demonstrating our government’s commitment to creating more opportunities for families and businesses to grow.
