Minister of Highways and Public Works Nils Clarke has issued the following statement:

“Our government is committed to enhancing transportation infrastructure and prioritizing community safety for Yukoners. I am pleased to announce the successful completion of the parking lot improvements project at Selkirk Elementary School.

“These upgrades have already helped reduce traffic congestion in this high-traffic area, increased parking capacity for teachers and provided a safer drop-off zone for parents.

The Government of Yukon celebrates apprenticeship excellence and 60 years of apprenticeship training

On September 12, the Government of Yukon hosted the 30th annual Yukon Apprenticeship Excellence Awards, celebrating 60 years of apprenticeship training in the territory. The event highlighted the remarkable growth of skilled trades over the years and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting apprentices and ensuring the continued professionalism of the trades.  

Construction of the Dempster Fibre Line is complete

The Government of Yukon today announced that the construction of the Dempster Fibre Line, a 778-kilometre fibre optic line that runs along the Dempster Highway between Dawson, Yukon, and Inuvik, Northwest Territories, is now complete.

Government of Yukon launches Baby Basket Project

The Government of Yukon is launching the Yukon Baby Basket Project. This is an initiative designed to support new parents and improve health outcomes for pregnant individuals, babies and families.

Developed in partnership with the Yukon Midwifery Program and Solstice Maternity, this project provides new parents with free baby supplies to welcome their child’s arrival and help support families through the early days of parenthood.

Yukon Permanent Art Collection exhibits 14 newest acquisitions

The Government of Yukon is proud to announce the opening of Abundance, the new art exhibition featuring the 14 most recent works added to the Yukon Permanent Art Collection. The exhibition is now open to the public in the Yukon Energy Community Gallery at the Yukon Arts Centre.

Yukon 125 anniversary celebration continues with 25 more medals awarded

The Government of Yukon continues awarding Yukon 125 medals to remarkable Yukoners in commemoration of the territory’s 125th anniversary.

Today, the Government of Yukon celebrates 25 more outstanding Yukoners who embody the values of leadership and reconciliation and contributed significantly to the wellbeing of the territory. Over the course of September, another 25 recipients will be announced each week.
