What We Heard report available for Whitehorse schools capital planning engagement

The Government of Yukon has released a report on the input received for Whitehorse school capital planning.

In spring 2023, the Government of Yukon collected feedback from Yukoners on their ideas, considerations and needs about building, upgrading and renovating Whitehorse-area schools. The engagement period ran for just over 60 days and ended in May 2023. During that time Yukoners were asked to provide feedback via an online survey, written submissions, targeted presentations, focus groups and public open houses held across Whitehorse.

Public engagement begins to update whistleblowing legislation

The Government of Yukon believes that an honest, open and accountable public service is the cornerstone of a healthy civil society. The Government of Yukon is reviewing the Public Interest Disclosure of Wrongdoing Act and would like to hear from the public about potential improvements, such as expanding the Act to cover other organizations and groups.

Statement from Minister Mostyn on success of Operation NANOOK-TATIGIIT

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn has issued the following statement:

“Today, I am pleased to announce that last week’s interagency territorial exercise Operation NANOOK-TATIGIIT was a resounding success.

“The state of the Yukon’s emergency preparedness has been the most asked question I have faced in my travels since the fires and floods swept across the North and Canada this summer.

Statement from Minister of Finance on 2022–23 Public Accounts

Minister Sandy Silver has issued the following statement: 

“On October 17, I provided an update to Yukoners about the progress and development of the 2022–23 Public Accounts.

“As Minister of Finance, I remain committed to keeping Yukoners informed about the preparation of this important document for the Government of Yukon.

Amendment to the Elections Act receives assent

We have removed the word "Royal" to correct an oversight.

The Government of Yukon is taking steps to ensure electoral boundaries respond to shifting populations and demographics in the territory, particularly in Whistle Bend in Whitehorse.
