The Government of Yukon has awarded Castle Rock Enterprises the contract for construction of a 44-lot serviced residential subdivision in Haines Junction. The project is part of the Government of Yukon’s ambitious land and housing development agenda. Once complete, the subdivision will include 44 serviced residential lots surrounding a central park with over a kilometre of connected trails.

Minister of Health and Social Services Tracy-Anne McPhee has issued the following statement:

“Yukoners deserve a health care system that provides coordinated, culturally safe and timely access to care. I am proud to announce that today, the Government of Yukon and the Government of Canada signed bilateral agreements providing the Yukon with $86 million to expand primary health care services, to support long-term care, home care and community care, to respond to the Substance Use Health Emergency and to recruit and retain health care workers.

On March 12, 2024, Bill 36 was introduced in the Yukon Legislative Assembly to repeal and replace the Exemptions Act.

The Deputy Premier and Minister responsible for the Women and Gender Equity Directorate Jeanie McLean welcomed new business signatories to the Yukon’s MMIWG2S+ strategy as part of an event to mark International Women’s Day on March 8.

Today, the Health Authority Act, Bill 38, was tabled in the Yukon Legislative Assembly. The proposed legislation sets the legal framework to create Shäw Kwä’ą (Health and Wellness Yukon Santé et mieux-être Yukon), the Yukon’s first health authority.

Students from schools across Whitehorse joined their voices in celebration today at Chante-la ta chanson.

An annual concert held at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, Chante-la ta chanson – or “Sing Your Song” – brings together elementary school children from Core French, Intensive French and French Immersion programs in Whitehorse, as well as those from the French First Language program at École Émilie-Tremblay.

Every school performs a French song selected by their students and all schools participate in a group song at this special event for students, staff and families.
